Embarkation: 27th May — Liverpool (UK)
Disembarkation: 3rd June — Dublin (Ireland)
Days Sailing: 4 // Days in Port: 3
The first regatta of the year! 4 days sailing surrounded by tall ships.
ATYLA’s team has met the—very experienced—festival organisers several times in person, and we are sure that they will make this festival great for everyone involved.
This video can give you an idea of how cool Liverpool is going to be, but please be aware that, in order to be a part of the festival in Liverpool, you’ll have to sail with us from Calais. Otherwise, this trip to Dublin only includes the last night before the ship leaves Liverpool.
Arriving in Liverpool is easy. If you come from outside the UK you can fly straight to Liverpool airport (several low-cost airlines fly there from 8 European countries), or if you want to make it super cheap fly to London and take a bus (it’s a 6 hour drive, but you can get a ticket for as little as £6).
This voyage will start with the first Parade of Sail of the year: Dozens of tall ships leaving Liverpool at the same time, thousands of spectators on both sides of the Mersey River, and you on board ATYLA, either on the deck or already up the mast.
About the race itself, this is how the organiser (Sail Training International) describes it:
“Race 1 will be around a number of strategically placed Way Points in the Irish Sea, which will create close racing, with many of the fleet staying in sight of each other until the finish line off Dublin.”
The city of Dublin celebrates a Tall Ships Festival every year, but this one is going to be the biggest since 2012 when they hosted The Tall Ships Races.
The participant ships sail all the way up the Liffey River until—almost—the city centre, and they stay there during the festival. So you’ll be able to visit all the other ships as crew of Atyla (not as a regular visitor), and will have all the facilities and touristic highlights within walking distance.
And of course all the activities for-crews-only: sports, competitions, guided tours, the Crew Parade and the crew Party. You’ll be able to find more information about these activities on the festival's website when the date gets closer.
And after saying goodbye to your shipmates, you’ll have an easy time returning home, because Dublin airport is very well connected to the rest of the world.INCLUDES:
